My local model railway dealer

When I was a child, they were still everywhere – those shop windows filled with treasures and dreams: model railways!
Today, most of these traditional specialty stores have disappeared. We no longer play only digitally – we also shop digitally. But a few of these “beacons of passion” still exist.

My personal favourite is located in the world-famous toy fair city of Nuremberg, where the traditional shop Eisenbahn Dörfler exists since in the meantime 105 years – a remarkable milestone in model-railway retail history!

If you ever visit the old imperial city, take a short walk to Färberstraße, just behind the historic city wall and close to the Opernhaus subway station.

There you’ll find a true treasure trove for railway enthusiasts – from rare spare parts (which can be ordered on request) to complete starter sets. A dedicated section for pre-owned items from estate sales and collections often hides rare gems – all carefully checked, refurbished, and expertly explained.

Whenever I’m back in Germany, a visit there is simply unavoidable!
